Cogmed Working Memory Training is a computerized program that can be done in the comfort of one’s own home. The software application, called RoboMemo©, features a series of 8 rotating exercises. As a child improves the exercises, RoboMemo dynamically increases the level of difficulty.

The Vista Group offers Cogmed Working Memory Training and has Cogmed-qualified coaches to help guide and support the "training aid" and child or adolescent through the following Basic or Booster trainings.

Basic Training (5 weeks)
- children/adolescents

Cogmed Working Memory Training is developed for adolescents and children over the age of seven who have attention deficits. The training is computerized using the RoboMemo software with support from a Cogmed-qualified coach. Training is done at home, with daily support from a training aide, such as a parent who participates in each training session. Training takes five weeks, 30-45 minutes a day, five days a week.

  • Interview – In the office or by phone an interview with a parent during which the child's specific difficulties are assessed. The likelihood of him/her benefiting from the training is decided. Additional assessment may be recommended.
  • Start up session – A reward system is designed with the aid of the coach and training begins.
  • Five weeks' training with coaching sessions – The coach follows the results of the training over the Internet.
Every week the coach discusses the results and developments with the training aide in a coaching session.
  • Wrap-up session – When the course has been completed, the coach makes an evaluation with the child and the training aide and produces a training report. If the training aide is someone other than a parent, then a parent will
also be included in the evaluation session.
  • Follow up – Five to six months after the conclusion of training, the coach calls the family to follow up on
    long-term progress.
